The inspection process is achieved by two robots working in master/slave mode.  The master is carrying the ultrasound transmitter and the slave is carrying the receiver. The slave tracks the master motion as it scans the part. Each robot is mounted on an independent linear external axis.

A master/slave arrangement with a gantry carrying both robots. The part to inspect is mounted on a rotary table.

A single robot inspects a part using a active thermography system. This requires the inspection system to be normal to the part surface to get the best readings.
